A DERELICT shrine to Hampshire’s war heroes needs your memories to bring it back to life.
Tucked away in a park near Eastleigh, the Stoneham War Shrine has saluted those who sacrificed their lives in war for more than 90 years.
Now as part of a £50,000 restoration project the Willis Fleming Historical Trust is calling on residents for their help in saving the shrine for future generations.
The trust wants donated artefacts and memories from locals to form part of a time capsule that will be sealed within the memorial during its rededication ceremony later this year.
Harry Willis Fleming, from the trust, said: “One of the aims of the restoration project is to make the renewed shrine a lasting station of local memory, in an area that is otherwise in danger of losing its historic identity.”
To add your memories to the time capsule contact the project team on 023 8061 7882.
