A WOMAN assaulted a shop assistant by putting her hands around her throat and poking her in the face, Southampton magistrates were told.
Kathleen Nolan was in the Zara store in WestQuay, Southampton, when she took exception to the way the sales assistant was looking at her.
Magistrates heard how she began shouting at the assistant and then put her hands around her neck for a few seconds, before being ejected from the store on March 9.
She was arrested by police in a nearby shop shortly afterwards but later began shouting racist abuse at one of the police officers.
Nolan, 20, of Wayside Road, Ringwood, admitted common assault, racially aggravated public order offence and further public order charge.
Nolan told magistrates she was unaware that the abuse she shouted at the police officer was racist.
The case was adjourned until April 16 for pre-sentence reports to be prepared.
