A MUM has spoken of her anguish at having to abort her child that she conceived despite being sterilised.

Just three months after undergoing the operation to ensure she wouldn’t have any more children, Nicole Casey was stunned to discovered she had fallen pregnant again.

Although deciding to go ahead with the pregnancy Mrs Casey, then developed complications and was advised to abort her baby daughter after she was told her own life would be at risk.

Now Mrs Casey, who has five other children aged between two and 16, is suing Southampton Hospitals NHS Trust, which carried out the procedure at the city’s Princess Anne Hospital, after learning that a clamp that would have sterilised her was put in the wrong place.

Agony The 33-year-old from Swaythling, Southampton, said she was in agony after the procedure and had medical staff acted upon her concerns her ordeal would have been avoided.
