The life of theologian and writer John Keble will be celebrated in his home village of Hursley later this month.

The choir of Keble College Oxford will put on a concert in the village hall later this month.

Keble was a famous theologian and writer who founded the Oxford Movement and lived in the village from the 1830s to his death in 1866.

Other events on Saturday April 25 are a tour from 4.30pm to 5.30pm taking in a display of the recently-refurbished parish hall and a tour of his grave and vicarage.

David Warwick will give a talk in the parish hall from 5.30pm to 6pm.

The concert in All Saints church will start at 6.30pm. The choir will sing music from the great cathedral composers of the country including Henry Purcell, Charles Villiers Stanford and Herbert Howells.

All proceeds go to All Saints Church, the parish hall refurbishment fund and Keble College Choir. Tickets are £15 or £10 for over-60s and under-16s.
