ABOUT 20 new retail jobs are going to hit Southampton High Street on the site of a derelict nightclub.
Supermarket chain Lidl’s multi-million-pound building project has transformed the former Brannigan’s site into a new high street store.
The neo-Georgian front of the store is listed and involved a painstaking restoration programme.
The building, which has been empty for five years, will open its doors on April 6 at 8am.
A Lidl spokesman said: “We are rolling out 50 stores all over the country and already have several in Hampshire.
“We think this one will really complement the high street, as we have a much more condensed product range than many other supermarkets.
“We have always been a very lean retailer and we think that’s what people are looking for now.”
Lidl already has stores in Shirley, Totton, Fareham and Eastleigh.
