UP to 10 pupils have been suspended as the row continues to rage over creating mixed age tutor groups at a Hampshire school.
As reported in the Daily Echo police were called to the campus at Fareham's Henry Cort Community College after more than 100 pupils staged a strike on Monday.
They were angry about plans to mix youngsters aged 11 and 15 as from September. The scheme has been tried at other schools and supporters say the benefits include giving older students a chance to show leadership and responsibility for younger pupils.
Up to 10 pupils were sent home yesterday after refusing to return to class. It is understood they tried to carry on Monday's strike where youngsters barricaded themselves into the tennis courts.
Some were sent home for the rest of the day and others for the whole week.
The school said the decision to exclude pupils was taken because they were potentially disrupting other children.
No one was available at the school for further comment.
