A 93-YEAR-OLD driver will be sentenced today for causing the crash that killed a Hampshire man on his first day of his retirement.
Alfred Ross pulled out in front of biker Jeffrey Bennett, 65, on the A337 near Brockenhurst in October last year.
Ross, of Sandy Down, Boldre, admitted causing death by careless driving when he appeared at New Forest Magistrates’ Court last month.
It is thought he is the oldest person ever to be convicted for the offence.
Due to his age, Ross is expected to receive a community punishment, rather than be sent to prison.
