ANTI-fluoride campaigners will step up their fight against plans to add the chemical to Southampton’s tap water at a public meeting tomorrow.
Hampshire Against Fluoridation (HAF) members will be talking to residents about their concerns over the scheme, backed in February by regional health chiefs despite widespread opposition from people in the affected area.
The group hopes to add names to its petition against the plans, which will see fluoride added to the water supply of almost 200,000 residents in parts of Southampton, Eastleigh, Totton, Netley and Rownhams.
It also aims to bolster a fighting fund set up to finance a potential legal challenge to South Central Strategic Health Authority’s decision to back the project in a bid to improve city children’s poor dental health.
HAF has invited several prospective parliamentary candidates to its meeting at Central Baptist Church, Devonshire Road, Southampton, which will take place from midday to 6pm.
The group says anyone who wants to find out more about fluoridation, and their campaign against it, should come along and chat to members.
