BETTONS of Titchfield has been selling carpets in the village for more than 50 years. Chris Betton now runs the business and believes customers may be surprised when they buy local.
He said: “What many people do not realise is that independent stores like ours can be very competitive on prices. What I hope this campaign will do is show people that the assumption that big chain stores are cheaper is not true. In many cases we are much cheaper.
“Some types of carpets that we sell for £28 per metre are being sold for £100 per metre in the bigger stores. We also offer that personal service too, where we can sit down with the customer and discuss their needs, from taking up the old carpet, to laying down the new one.”
