SOUTHAMPTON is throwing its weight being Breastfeeding Awareness Week that starts next week. A host of events are being staged in the city.
One of the highlights of the week will be the annual Breastfeeding picnic being held at The Common in Southampton.
The event is for anyone who supports breastfeeding and will include activities or children and information stands.
Parents are invited to bring their own food to the picnic which is being held next Tuesday, May 14, between 11.30am and 1.30pm. In the event of bad weather the picnic will take place at St Andrew’s United Reformed Church hall in The Avenue.
There will also be a raffle with all profits going to buy muchneeded equipment at the Breastfeeding Babes at the Princess Anne hospital.
Other events include an information day where volunteers will be manning stands around the city throughout Monday including WestQuay Shopping Centre and supermarkets across the city.
