POLICE recovered more than £3,000 worth of amphetamine and cannabis in a search of a Southampton’s man home, the city crown court heard.
The drugs were found in a bedroom safe after Nathan Bird had been arrested for an unrelated offence and taken to a police station for questioning, Prosecutor Carl Anderson told the court that police opened the safe after Bird had phoned them with the combination number.
Bird, of Chestnut Road, admitted possessing amphetamine with intent to supply and possessing cannabis and was jailed for 15 months. He also forfeited £1,200 found in a wallet near the safe.
Defence lawyer David Reid told the court that the unemployed builder supplied friends with amphetamine to help fund his habit and had smoked cannabis since the age of 12.
