FORCED to inject her diabetic son five times a day, one Hampshire mum has taken the plunge to help put an end to his pain.
Just three months ago, Lisa Churchyard’s world was turned upside down when her ten-year-old son Sam suddenly became ill and was diagnosed with having type 1 diabetes.
As Lisa watched her son bravely cope with his new lifestyle and daily injections, she felt helpless that Sam, now 11, would have to deal with this for the rest of his life.
So to help find a cure, the 37-year-old from Swanmore jumped out of a plane to raise hundreds of pounds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Lisa, from Orchardlea, said: “Sam needed me to be strong but his attitude diluted all my parental worries.
“His mature and responsible nature towards his new-found condition was fantastic.
“As a parent I felt I had to do something more.
“It was hard having to inject my little boy four to five times a day knowing it was not going to go away, so that is why I’ve done this skydive.”
