A WOMAN died after pulling out feeding tubes and refusing medical treatment, an inquest has heard. Susan Nunn, 41, had “consistently and consciously” refused the help of doctors at Winchester’s Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH).
The ventilator that she had been on for much of her five-week spell at the Romsey Road site was turned down after doctors decided nothing more could be done for her. Stephen Wimbush, a consultant anaesthetist, told the Winchester inquest she disconnected intravenous lines and feeding tubes and refused to comply with psychiatric assessments. Deputy coroner Simon Burge, recorded a verdict of natural causes aggravated by self-neglect.
