TWO people had a lucky escape after their motorboat burst into flames and sank off the Hampshire coast this afternoon.
The pair got into trouble in waters off Lee-on-Solent shortly after 3pm when a fire broke out onboard.
They managed to make it back to the shoreside by Elmore Fishing Club but the fire had badly damaged the boat and it sank.
Two coastguard teams as well as the coastguard helicopter were launched to tackle the blaze.
A coastguard spokeswoman said they had received numerous 999 calls from concerned members of the public about the incident.
A spokeswoman added the Marine Accident Investigation Branch has been informed.
