FIGHTING in the sweltering heat of the Malayan jungle, veteran Mike Stoneham got used to blood-sucking leeches crawling all over him.
It was just one of the things he had to deal with during his two years fighting Communist terrorists in the then British colony.
Nearly 53 years on, he and fellow surviving soldiers from the conflict have another battle on their hands – a fight for Government recognition.
