A HAMPSHIRE mum bagged bargains galore to mark the opening of Southampton’s newest credit crunch-beating store.
Mum of two Sally Cooper had 90 seconds to race round the new 99p Stores in Shirley after winning a trolley dash competition in the Daily Echo.
The only thing Sally, from Park Gate, missed out on was breaking the 99p Stores’ trolley dash world record of 102 items – she only managed 65.
The 32-year-old said: “It was a great experience.”
Dozens of people queued for the official opening of the shop, which has moved into the former Woolworths store in Shirley High Street.
First in the queue was 69- year-old former Woolworths employee Dilys Ferrett, who had been waiting since 7.30am.
Dilys, from Shirley, said the opening of the 99p Stores was “the best thing to happen to Shirley”.
