POP relics Kajagoogoo are reforming for their first UK tour in 25 years – and they’re coming to Southampton.
The mullet-haired 80s band, who hit the top spot with their number one single Too Shy in 1983, have announced a ten-date tour in the Autumn culminating in a finale at The Brook in Portswood.
The single topped the charts in 22 other countries, but just eight months later the group – led by flamboyant frontman Limahl - had split.
Limahl, 50, whose real name in Christopher Hamill, said: “It took us 25 years to grow up, basically. All this silly stuff – ‘if you want to talk to me, talk to my lawyer...’ “But now we're back together, it's a relief.”
He added: “When you get to our age, you know you're half way through your life or more; you know this is not a rehearsal, it's the real thing.”
The group's publicist said Kajagoogoo were “armed with new songs”.
Kajagoogoo play at the Brook on October 1.
