CONTACT with asbestos claimed the life of a retired railway worker, an inquest has heard.
Southampton Coroner’s Court was told how Robert Hill, 77, of Stafford Road, Shirley, Southampton, developed lung cancer after he was exposed to the substance during his career at Eastleigh’s railway depot as well as on ships in the Navy.
Coroner Keith Wiseman recorded a verdict of death from industrial disease.
