WAITING times at Southampton General Hospital’s accident and emergency department are among the worst in the country, new figures reveal.
The department was the second worst major A&E department nationally for admitting, discharging or transferring patients too slowly.
The Department of Health figures were compiled from January to March.
They reveal that 90.8 per cent of patients spent less than four hours in Southampton’s A&E from arrival to admission, discharge or transfer, compared to 96.8 per cent nationally.
