MULTI-COLOURED English dancers sidestepped the showers as they brought their traditions to the streets of Winchester.
The annual Mayfest returned to the city on Friday and Saturday offering a kaleidoscope of music, dance and song, ranging from clog and Morris dancing to jazz, blues and roots music.
Performers entertained the crowds in the High Street, The Square, Cathedral Green and city centre pubs. Concerts were held in the Guildhall, Discovery Centre, United Church and St Lawrence’s Church.
The unique event was previously known as Winchester Folk festival and had a troubled history, sometines having to be cancelled through lack of volunteers. In recent years having expanded its repetoire its future looks secure.
