A 64 year-old has been robbed in her own driveway by a man who was wielding a red wooden baton.
The terrifying drama happened in Botley Road, Park Gate last Saturday and police have just released the details.
It was at about 10.15pm when the woman, who was in the driveway of her home, was approached by an unknown man, carrying a red wooden baton.
The man grabbed the woman's handbag and there was a brief struggle when the man raised the baton in a threatening manner.
The victim let go of the handbag and the suspect ran off with it in the direction of Park Gate.
Detective Constable Steve Roman said: "It was dark at the time of the incident and the victim was very upset and shaken.
"She was unable to provide us with a description of the suspect, therefore we are appealing for the public's help in finding him.
"We would appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward if they witnessed the incident or saw the suspect running away from the area subsequent to it.
"Additionally, if anyone has any information about the person responsible, they should come forward as soon as possible."
