PUSHY traders will be given short shrift in five more areas across the Winchester district.
Council and police chiefs are s e t t i n g up ‘no cold calling zones’ across the county.
They already exist in parts of Hursley and Otterbourne, and they aim to deter rogue traders and doorstep conmen.
Three new areas have now been launched in Stanmore, Winchester.
They are at Lisle Court, Drummond Close and General Johnson Court, and cover 105 homes.
Two rural zones have also been launched at Couch Green in Martyr Worthy and Baring Close at Itchen Abbas. The two schemes in the upper Itchen Valley will cover 34 homes.
Residents will be given information packs and window stickers to deter unwanted callers.
Hampshire County Council chief executive, Andrew Smith, said: “We now have 47 ‘no cold calling zones’ in Hampshire that are helping thousands of households see a significant reduction in the number of cold calls they receive.
“The local knowledge and strong support from residents has enabled us to select the zones where they will have the most impact and send a firm message that rogue traders and distraction burglars are not welcome in Hampshire.”
The scheme, backed by Neighbourhood Watch, does not aim to block legitimate callers such as charities, councillors, or trusted retailers.
Residents can report cold callers to police on 0845 045 4545, or the trading standards quick response team on 0845 404 0506.
