Tina Light and her two-year-old grandson Eli were among the hundreds of people who turned out to watch traders and breeders at the annual Wickham Horse Fair yesterday, the oldest and largest event of its kind in the country.
There was a parade of working horses and ponies marching through the village square, horse-related activities, a funfair and stalls.
The fair can date its roots back to 1269 when Roger de Syres first obtained a Royal Charter from King Henry III for a weekly market.
