About Cambian Education If you’re looking for inspiring work, come to Cambian.

Cambian Education is the UK’s largest provider of specialist residential education and care for young people with Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.

Over 30 years’ experience has given them real insight into the difficulties that students face each day.

This approach helps them to meet and overcome their challenges and to modify their behaviours, allowing them to learn.

Cambian need a wide range of staff for two new houses they are opening soon for 16 to 25 year-olds with Autism, part of Cambian’s expanding provision of adult services.

Both will be satellite units of an existing Cambian residential school, sharing training and staff expertise.

The staff will have the opportunity to work as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, aiming to expand the horizons and improve the skills of young people with Autism.

The Squirrels in Chilworth, near Southampton, will offer 52-week residential provision for nine young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder, severe learning difficulties and challenging behaviour.

Amberwood in Parkstone, Dorset, will offer 52-week residential provision for ten young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and severe and mild learning difficulties.

Due to sharing of expertise we will also require support staff for our existing satellite unit, Oakhurst Lodge, Ashurst and our main school in Boldre, Nr Lymington.

Cambian Education support the young people’s every day living skills, which may include shopping at local stores, household tasks and preparing meals. Young people also have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities such as swimming, horse riding, work experience, ICT Workshops and hobbies, all of which are meaningful to the individuals.

All the units also have the opportunity to take part in special annual events such as a group wide fun day, camping trips and organised days out.

Here is what the staff say about us: “I am valued as an individual for what I bring to my job, and I have received superb training.

The students are at the heart of everything we do; we develop creative ways of meeting their needs and superb teamwork by all the staff ensures consistency.”

(Louise a Team Manager who has been with the group for 14 years).

“I’ve loved every minute of my job. I enjoy the teamwork with other staff, as well as building relationships with the students – carrying them through the difficult times, seeing the progress they make and helping them to live fulfilling lives.”

(Stef an Assistant Team Manager who has been with the group for 6 years).

“The training is superb. I’ve been on a five-day management course and I’ve also attended courses on helping students to communicate and on the use of various therapies.”

(Hannah an Assistant Team Manager who has been with the group nearly 5 years).

“Learning to interact with the students has helped me to build a rapport with the child patients I meet during my medical training. It’s a much more satisfying holiday job than working in a bar or a restaurant.”

“There’s a warm atmosphere and you liaise closely with other staff over the students,” he says. “You can see the reward of making the environment right for the young people – a place where they can flourish.”
