ONE of the three remaining goshawk chicks has died after falling 18 metres from its nest.
It is believed that heavy wind blew the chick from the tree as it tried to clamber across the nest for food.
The live webcam on the nest, being streamed on the Daily Echo website, shows the three chicks crossing the nest but only two returning.
The fourth egg in the nest is yet to hatch and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) believe it to be infertile and unlikely to hatch.
Naomi White, from RSPB south east, said: “It’s distressing for people to see. Ideally we’d hope for four healthy chicks but this just isn’t going to happen.”
