HAMPSHIRE residents are pulling out all the stops to raise money in memory of a teenage cancer victim who became the face of the charity.
As part of Wave 105’s Jenna’s Dream campaign, people are climbing mountains, arranging beer sales and holding mammoth raffles and auctions.
The events are all aimed at helping to raise £50,000 for a music room at Southampton General Hospital in memory of Blackfield teenager Jenna Hill.
Jenna, pictured, was diagnosed with rare and aggressive cancer of the spine at just 15 and was treated at the Piam Brown Ward, the children’s oncology unit.
During her treatment she agreed to take part in a photo shoot to help promote the Teenage Cancer trust and was put on the front cover of its hard hitting brochure.
She went into remission in June 2007 but was told the cancer had returned in August last year. She died in February aged 18.
As well as appealing for help from listeners, Wave 105 presenters Simon Clarke and Steve Power are cycling a total of 100 miles across the radio station’s coverage area on June 6, meeting up in Southampton. Log on to wave105.com to sponsor them.
