YOU could rename it the Hollywood Festival of Speed with film legend Peter Fonda bringing the Easy Rider touch to Goodwood’s motoring classic this year.
Fonda will be riding his Harley Davidson chopper from the 1969 big screen classic up the 1.16-mile hillclimb – but Goodwood plans to have plenty of other great motorcycles and riders on hand to entertain all bike fans too on July 3-5.
The array of famous motorcycles and world-class riders at the annual Festival of Speed has become an integral part of the event for all enthusiastic motor sport fans. This year Goodwood will pay homage to the true grit and epic feats of endurance displayed in the sport throughout its illustrious history. Combined with a comprehensive celebration of 60 years of Motorcycle Grand Prix and a contemporary focus on the World Super-bike Champ-ionship, it is one event that motorcycle fans really can not afford to miss.
To celebrate the main festival theme there will be a selection of world-beating endurance racing machinery. As part of the celebration of 60 years of Motorcycle Grand Prix, Goodwood will bring together one of the largest collections of significant machinery and famous riders ever seen. Expect to see everything from the first 500cc championship-winning AJS Porcupine, early Italian exotica and fire-breathing two-strokes through to four-stroke monsters. To celebrate the highly popular World Superbike Championship’s wealth of talent, Goodwood will gather a comprehensive selection of race teams and title contenders.
Factory riders such as Troy Corser, Broc Parkes, Yukio Kagayama, Jonathon Rea, Leon Haslam and Cal Crutchlow will join stars from other forms of racing such as Phil Read, Mick Doohan and Troy Bayliss.
Entry to the Festival is by advance ticket only. Call the ticket hotline on 01243 755055, fax 01243 755058, email bookings@goodwood.com or go to goodwood.co.uk/motor sport/.
