A MAN armed with a machete went on the rampage in a Hampshire town during the early hours of today.
Police were called at 1.20am, after reports he had caused damage to a home.
Although officers found the property was empty, they soon spotted the man carrying the huge blade nearby.
A 43-year-old man was arrested, and is today in custody helping police with their enquiries.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident in Worthing Road, Basingstoke, and are especially keen to hear from any taxi drivers who dropped off a fare in the Black Dam area during the early hours.
