PINTS were turned into pounds as punters at a Hampshire pub raised money for brave service personnel injured while serving their country.
The Lapstone in Horton Heath hosted a special family fun day to raise hundreds of pounds for the Daily Echo-backed charity, Help for Heroes.
Inspired by her son Corporal Michael Butterworth, who returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan last year, landlady Karen Gaskell organised the fun-packed event, complete with raffles, auctions and fancy dress.
Even Cpl Butterworth’s 88-year-old grandmother Ella Boorn got in on the action, saddling up for the drive of her life on the back of a Harley Davidson.
Karen said: “When my son came back and told me how tough it is for those who come back without their limbs, facing a lifetime of readjustment, I knew I had to do something to help. It has been a fantastic day.”
Cpl Butterworth, 24, who spent the day washing cars, added: “It has been a brilliant day and a great opportunity to give something back to the forces and all those servicemen and women who deserve top quality care when they come back home.”
