A MOTORCYCLIST has died after a collision on a Hampshire road moments after leaving a race circuit.
Police have not revealed details of other vehicles involved in the smash, at around 6.25pm yesterday, which killed the rider of a red Ducati.
Specialist officers closed the old A303 at Thruxton Down, near Andover, for three hours last night to allow a detailed inspection of the scene.
They were last night attempting to trace the dead man’s family, and are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident, or the motorbike before the crash, to get in touch.
“The adult male rider of a red-coloured Ducati motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, and enquiries are continuing to notify his next of kin,” said a police spokesman.
“Police believe the rider had been at Thruxton circuit and had recently left the site, shortly before the collision.
“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw the bike leaving the area and immediately before the collision.”
Anyone with information should call Whitchurch Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 4545, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
