A MAN’S body has been found in a bedroom of a Southampton hotel.
A horrified cleaner made the grim discovery as she went about her routine duties.
It is thought the dead man, who had been staying at the budget Etap hotel in the city centre, right, committed suicide by drinking a toxic substance.
Police were called to the West Quay Road hotel after the body was discovered on Friday.
It is not known how long the man had been staying at the hotel.
An Etap spokesman told the Daily Echo: “We can confirm that a body was found in the hotel, and the authorities were alerted immediately and the police are now investigating.
“It was found by one of the cleaning staff during their normal duties.
“It is very sad, and it is obviously very distressing for everyone.
“It is not a pleasant thing for anyone to find, and the cleaner was shaken by it, but she’s OK.”
