A PRIME shopping street in Ringwood looks likely to be closed to through traffic after £200,000 improvements next year.
Following a public consultation councillors want to make Southampton Road access only.
They also decided to mark the road surface to make sure motorists keep within certain zones to ensure the safety of pedestrians and security for shops.
Other proposed improvements are the widening of narrow pavements at the Friday’s Cross end of the road, the laying of blockwork and the planting of trees.
