The first Friday of the Southampton boat I had the pleasure of presenting some of the results of my hard work to the Ellen Macarthur Trust.
The £6,000 means that twelve more children who need inspiration to recover from cancer can be taken on by the trust. It was a special weekend anyway, with the trust finishing their round Britain voyage. The following day the boat left the boat show and arrived in Cowes. What this meant was that 74 children had taken it in turns to sail the boat around Britain. The best thing was they had done so with smiles on their faces.
The next thing was i received an invitation up to the paralympic trials in on the 29th September. I have a form of cerebral palsy that affects the muscles and co-ordination on the left side of my body. I’m also gradually losing the peripheral vision and tolerance to light in the left eye so i fell into one of two categories. I was unsuccessful on the day but there might be the opportunity to possibly trial in the future. There were some truly inspiring individuals taking part in the event.
The next one day event i’m preparing for is the New York Marathon. It is the 40th ever marathon this November. It is an amazing race to take part in and something i’m very excited about. I’m also looking into forming my diary for next year.
