WHEN their venue closed down a children’s disco club looked set to be homeless for Christmas.
Without anywhere to stage their popular disco aimed at children from six months to 12 years old, organisers of Rockababa feared their Christmas party would have to be scrapped.
But after reading of their plight after their former venue Jongeleurs in Southampton closed down, top Southampton nightclub Oceana came to the rescue.
The venue, which boasts one of the biggest light up disco floors in the world, played host to the club on Sunday and welcomed scores of youngsters and their parents to the New York themes clubroom.
Along with a healthy mix of Christmas songs, there were plenty of festive games, activities and even an appearance from Santa himself.
Founder of Rockababa Louise Reed said: “We were very sad to leave Jongeleurs as it was a fantastic venue but we were delighted when Oceana stepped in. We went from having no where to stage our Christmas party to one of the biggest venue’s possible.
“The added bonus is there is lots of free parking at the club and the light up dance floor is such a hit with the kids.”
The idea behind Rockababas is for children to enjoy themselves at a venue that also appeals to parents, so the whole family can enjoy an afternoon together.
It is hoped Oceana at West Quay will become a permanent venue for the club.
