THOUSANDS of Hampshire job seekers, students and employers are set to descend on the Southampton Guildhall for the Daily Echo jobsfair today.
The new job, new career or new direction in life could be just hours away with almost 30 different exhibitors to visit at the event in association with Best Buy.
Every year, thousands attend the free event featuring all manner of different employers offering work in retail, healthcare and the military among other industries.
Whether you’re an undergraduate student at one of Southampton’s two universities or between jobs, the Daily Echo could help you discover the next step in your working life.
For those in need of help creating the most appealing and attractive resumes to attract future employers, there’s also the CV clinic ran by Next Step.
A dedicated team of people will be on hand to give you the best advice at keeping your record of employment interesting and appealing.
Annie Martin, from Next Step, said: “At the jobsfair today, we are particularly looking at your CV, design, layout and content, what should and should not be included, how to lay the content out and get your relevant skills highlighted to an employer straight away.
“Templates and handouts are available to enable you to get started if you do not have a CV and we can also advise on skills accounts, career changes, training, and courses.”
The jobsfair is also a great opportunity for students in Southampton and will be attended by Graduate Jobs South, who work to help people just out of university into employment.
They will be encouraging jobsfair graduates to sign up for email alerts to make them aware of upcoming opportunities.
Southampton Solent University's Careers Manager Liz George said: “The Daily Echo jobsfair is a great place for students and graduates to explore their future.”
Entry to the Daily Echo jobsfair in association with Best Buy is completely free and the doors are open from 10am until 6pm.
