COUNCIL chiefs in the New Forest have achieved another reduction in the amount of market waste sent to landfill sites.
All the paper and cardboard generated by stalls at the popular weekly market in New Milton will now be collected and recycled.
Similar schemes are already operating at the markets in nearby Ringwood, Hythe and Lymington.
The New Milton initiative is the result of co-operation between the town and district councils and the market’s new operator, Bray Associates.
Edward Heron, the district council’s Cabinet member for environment, said: “We are leading the way in market waste recycling.
“Four of the markets in the New Forest now have a recycling collection, which is good news for the environment and the local economy.”
