MORE than 2000 newly qualified young drivers in Hampshire will be safer on the roads.
New motorists aged 17 to 24 took the Driving Standards Association’s Pass Plus scheme to take advantage of a £75 subsidy towards the cost of the course from Hampshire County Council.
The lessons help inexperienced drivers become more confident on the roads after passing their test to lower the risk of an accident and to lower insurance premiums.
Tom Lawson, from Chandler’s Ford, who took the course, said: “I did it to gain extra experience on the road, especially as I knew I was going to be driving a nice company car with my new job.”
