A HEAVILY pregnant woman and another mum were involved in a foul-mouthed brawl in front of shocked parents and toddlers in a Southampton playground.
Astonished mums and dads watched on as the pair hurled threats and insults at one another in Mayflower Park before squaring up and exchanging blows.
The row started after the young children of the two women had a small disagreement over the use of a piece of play equipment.
But the dispute soon boiled over in to a violent brawl between their mothers.
Stunned parents shepherded their children out of the play area as the pair turned the air blue with a volley of X-rated swear words.
“They were effing and blinding in front of all the children and before we knew it, they were taking swings at each other,” said mother-of-two Rachel Dryden, who saw the fight unfold on Saturday afternoon.
“It was absolutely disgusting – and I found it really quite upsetting.
“If parents can’t interact in a mature manner, then what hope have their children got?”
Eventually the duo had to be dragged apart as the violent scuffle threatened to escalate. Police say they weren’t made aware of the altercation and have made no arrests.
Rachel, who lives with partner Josh and their two children in the city, added: “It makes me feel so sad about what society has come to when you can’t even feel safe taking your children to a park on a Saturday afternoon.
“It’s the kind of thing that would easily give Southampton a bad name.”
