YOU could say it was a first class result.
But one Saints fan may have gone a bit far in his celebrations of reaching Wembley by painting a post box in their team colours.
The eye-catching makeover was drawing attention from shoppers and residents along Queensway.
Matthew Hanley, who lives on the city centre street said the makeover must have been done following Tuesday night’s 3-1 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy southern area final second leg win over MK Dons at St Mary’s.
Matthew, 33, said: “It is certainly eyecatching.
I think someone is obviously celebrating the win. It strikes me as just a bit of fun.”
However, the paint-job has not been welcomed by post bosses who said the box will now have to be repaired.
A Royal Mail spokesman said: “This is an act of vandalism and if anyone has information we would urge them to contact police. We will be arranging for the box to return to Royal Mail red as soon as possible which is an unnecessary expense to the business.”
