SCENES of crime officers were this afternoon scouring a house where it's believed a woman was held against her will and tortured.
Detectives swooped on the Southampton property this morning where they arrested a man suspected of being involved in the incident.
As reported, the woman was beaten, burnt on her face and had her hair hacked off to her scalp during the terrifying ordeal.
The 23-year-old has not been able to tell police where she was being held or for how long. She eventually managed to escape to another house where she raised the alarm around in Northbrook Road, Newtown Nicholstown area of Southampton at 6.15pm on Tuesday.
The 38-year-old man was arrested in Derby Road and is now being held in police custody waiting to be interviewed by police on suspicion of aiding and abetting an assault.
Officers are continuing to hunt for a second man thought to have played a key role in the false imprisonment and kidnap of the woman.
They are particularly keen to hear from any football fans who were in the area heading to the Saints v MK Dons game on Tuesday who may have seen the woman and have information.
Detective sergeant Stu Barton said: "We are confident that we have found the place where this woman was held and abused. We continue to appeal to local people who have knowledge of this incident. The man who was arrested is local and we believe other local people will know who else was involved.
Anyone who has information is asked to contact Bitterne CID on 101 and speak to the Operation Citadel team.
