DRIVERS heading out of Southampton are suffering major delays after a three-vehicle smash blocked the A326 Marchwood By-Pass.

Police diverted traffic between Jacob’s Gutter Lane and the Rushington Roundabout at the A35 Spicer’s Hill junction following the incident which is thought to have started after a car hit the central reservation.

Traffic is held up as far back as Mountbatten Way as motorists head out of Southampton on the Millbrook and Redbridge Flyovers.

A police spokeswoman said all lanes had now been reopened.

Ambulance crews were called to the scene but it is not thought that any of the drivers were seriously injured in the incident.
