A MAN was punched and kicked to the head after falling asleep in foliage as he made his way home during the early hours of the morning.
The victim, aged 22, suffered facial cuts and bruises and had his mobile phone worth £200, a bank card and £50 cash stolen during the attack.
Police are now hunting the gang of four who carried out the assault in Millbrook Road East, near the junction with Bourne Road.
They would like to hear from anyone who saw the incident after the victim got out of a taxi and began walking home.
The man stopped to sit down near a block of flats and phoned his girlfriend.
He then fell asleep in some shrubbery opposite Bourne Road.
Shortly afterwards the four men attacked him during the early hours of Saturday morning between 2.30am and 3.30am.
