RESIDENTS at a nursing home in Winchester raised nearly £2,000 to help people suffering with an incurable illness.
Huntington’s Disease attacks the nervous system, causing movement and emotional problems.
Two of the residents at Abbotts Barton Nursing Home in Worthy Road, Winchester, suffer with the hereditary disease.
Philip White and Catherine Marriott have both been left disabled by it, and residents wanted to help in the search for a cure.
Charity choice Every year, the residents at the home pick a charity to raise money for, and the Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA) is their latest choice.
With a final total of £1,920, they invited Chantelle Durnall, a member of the Hampshire branch of the HDA, to accept their cheque.
The 16-year-old from Freemantle Road in Gosport also has the condition, and is writing a book about it called Me and My Thing.
