DO you know a charity in the Southampton region that does heroic work?
If the answer is yes, the charity could be a nomination away from winning a special award.
For the first time ever Flybe Local Heroes Awards have launched in Hampshire and organisations and individuals who make a difference could receive £7,000.
The Southampton-based air carrier will pick one registered charity that is a jewel in the region’s crown to receive a financial boost made up of £3,000 in cash and a travel bursary of £4,000 to be used on the Flybe service network.
Judges will be Saints’ football legend Matt Le Tissier, Flybe head of marketing Ian Taylor and Daily Echo editor Ian Murray.
The money would ideally be used for a project that would not otherwise take place. The travel may be used to bring people to the Southampton region either to provide particular expertise, to give talks, or in support of a fundraising event.
But charities are not the only people who can benefit from the Daily Echo-backed giveaway. There are also two other categories: Sport in the Community and Education in the Community which can each receive the £7,000 boost.
