A MULTI-MILLION-pound redevelopment has brought hospital care closer to the homes of thousands of residents in Hampshire.
Last night the new Gosport War Memorial Hospital was officially unveiled, offering extra outpatient services to local people.
The £6.1m facelift has provided six additional outpatient consulting rooms, more treatment areas and a larger therapies department.
Patients will also benefit from an endoscopy department and a minor injuries unit, ending the need for long journeys into Portsmouth for treatment.
Professor Jonathon Montgomery, chairman for NHS Hampshire, said: “Adding purpose- built space to the hospital allowed us to put the different services next to each other so they can work together as effectively and efficiently as possible to provide the best care for local patients and residents.”
The Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Diane Searle, performed the official opening.
