With a studio that doubles as his bedroom, it’s hard to believe this Southampton teenager is making such a big noise in the music world.
But the tunes created by 19-year-old Mark Taylor have already been used by Brit Award-winning rapper Dizzee Rascal and aired on national radio.
With a keen interest in music from the age of 12, the former Taunton’s College student is hoping his makeshift studio will help him forge a career as a music producer.
Mark produces a form of grime music – and has also had airtime on the radio station Kiss 100 in London as well as Radio 1 sister station Radio 1Xtra.
The Shirley resident has drawn inspiration from other acts to come from the city, such as Artful Dodger and Craig David.
He said: “I’m a traditional British guy, I live in Southampton, I support Saints and seeing Craig David and Artful Dodger make it is definitely an inspiration.
“They came through the same way, the only difference is they sing on their tracks and I produce them.”
The teenager said that he was overjoyed to hear superstar Dizzee sample his music.
He added: “I think it was spontaneous but it was great to hear and a really good thing to put on my CV.
“I was in my room listening to the radio and it came on. I went crazy, he’s like the king.”
