Outstanding success for Fareham's Rainbow Centre

IT WAS smiles all round as the Rainbow Centre shone once again to claim a hat trick of outstanding successes.

From its warm and friendly atmosphere to the staff’s ability to boost the self-esteem of youngsters, Ofsted inspectors failed to find fault with the centre in Fareham.

Every aspect of the centre’s work with the children, who suffer from severe cerebral palsy, was showered with glowing praise and the dedication of its staff was highly commended.

This is the third time that the centre, which is a registered charity that provides conductive education for 27 children, aged between two and eight years old, has been deemed outstanding by inspectors.

They were particularly impressed by the way staff managed the transition from parent to school environment, noting that few children even realised that their parents has disappeared for the day.

The report said: “The centre provides an exceptionally warm and welcoming environment and is a cheerful, happy place.

“Children are developing excellent skills for the future in relation to their starting points. The conductors [teachers] greatly encourage children at every opportunity to develop and increase their independent skills.”

Celebrating their hat trick of success new chief executive Gill Hall said: “I am immensely proud of our team for yet another outstanding inspection.

“This achievement underlines the sustained level of excellence we set ourselves. The inspectors were delighted to acknowledge our exceptionally high standard of educational provision, particularly for a special needs setting.

“They recognised that the very warm, loving environment, encouragement and praise for the smallest achievement helps each child reach its full potential.”
