SOUTHAMPTON’S most famous singing export has thrown his backing behind the Saints when they take to the hallowed Wembley turf later this month.
Despite being on tour promoting the release of his new album Craig David says he will take time out to catch the game on TV.
“I’d love to go to the game, if I can just free myself from the promotion of the new album,” said Craig.
“I think we’ll win in the final. It’s a breeze for us really. We’re on fire right now.”
R&B star Craig said although he was disappointed he wouldn’t be able to see his favourite team take on Carlisle in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy he was delighted with their recent form.
“ I grew up with this team being a Premier League team, so it’s hard being in League One,” he added, believing that Saints had finally turned a corner from the dark days of administration last year.
“We need to get back up to the Champion-ship. If we can get to the play-offs I think we have a good chance of getting into the Championship and we’d be in the running to get back into the Premier League.”
