ALAN Pardew has uttered the words all Saints fans wanted to hear – Rickie Lambert won’t be going anywhere this summer.
Lambert’s hat-trick at the weekend took him past the 30-goal mark for the season and underlined why many Championship clubs had been casting an enviable eye towards St Mary’s, but Pardew insists it will be impossible for them to lure away his star striker.
And, at the start of such an important week for Saints, the news comes as a massive boost with a League One match at home to Hartlepool tonight preceding the JPT final against Carlisle at Wembley on Sunday.
But Pardew has also told his players that anyone taking their eye off the ball this evening will put their Wembley place under threat, with the league still very much a priority.
Pardew (right) has also refused to rule out bringing in a right back on loan before Thursday’s deadline with Lloyd James’ fitness to be tested alongside David Connolly on Wed-nesday ahead of the trip to Wembley.
