Carlisle is a city with a history that goes back to Roman times.
Developed by the Romans, Carlisle is the final English city before the Scottish border.
It has had city status for 36 years and has had a Football club for 106 years.
In the club's long history it has reached a number of Football League Trophy finals and will set a new record at Wembley on Sunday.
It has had players such as Peter Beardsley, Matt Jansen and Rory Delap play for the it.
Carlisle has teams in other sports including Rugby Union and Rugby League.
It is also birthplace to former England cricket player Paul Nixon and former England defender Kevin Beattie.
The city has a number of locally historic buildings including Carlisle Cathedral, Carlisle Castle, Carlisle Tower and City Walls.

- 36. During the first seven centuries of construction, the Scots were always attacking Carlisle's castle.
- 37. There was a disastrous fire in 1292. The fire damaged piers, choir, and also the east bay of the cathedral.
- 38. The Romans didn't leave Carlisle for nearly 350 years.
- 39. During the Millennium dig, over 80,000 objects were found at Castle Green, which is in Carlisle.

- 42. In 1568 Carlisle received some bye-laws which dealt with the security of the city. They were written down in the 'Dormont Book'. Part of this book still survives today and it is in the Old Town Hall of Carlisle.
- 43. Carlisle United F.C. topped the whole English league after winning their first three games of the seasons, 1974 - 1975, they failed to keep up their excellent form though.
- 44. In 2008 - 2009, Carlisle United F.C. was 20th in league one.
- 45. At the end of the Second World War, Ivor Broadis was appointed manager, which made him the youngest club manager in history at the age of 23.
- 46. In 2004 - 2005 Carlisle won the Conference National Promotion Playoffs.
- 47. In 2008 - 2009, Carlisle United F.C. sold two of their key players for a total (combined) of £1.5 million.
- 48. Carlisle was elected third division north in 1928, where they replaced Durham City.
- 49. In 1975 Carlisle United F.C. was in the FA Cup Quarter Finals.
- 50. In 1964 - 1965, Carlisle United F.C. was the football league division three champions, which promoted them to division two.
