Carlisle is a city with a history that goes back to Roman times.

Developed by the Romans, Carlisle is the final English city before the Scottish border.

It has had city status for 36 years and has had a Football club for 106 years.

In the club's long history it has reached a number of Football League Trophy finals and will set a new record at Wembley on Sunday.

It has had players such as Peter Beardsley, Matt Jansen and Rory Delap play for the it.

Carlisle has teams in other sports including Rugby Union and Rugby League.

It is also birthplace to former England cricket player Paul Nixon and former England defender Kevin Beattie.

The city has a number of locally historic buildings including Carlisle Cathedral, Carlisle Castle, Carlisle Tower and City Walls.
